Physical description:
Single storey brick Victorian cottage with corrugated iron roof, steeply hipped on the main portion and gabled on the south-western (?) wing. The south-western (?) gable features a plain bargeboard with finial. A partial front skillion verandah, also of corrugated iron, is supported on simple timber posts with decorative lace work brackets (probably not as original).

The front south facing facade as well as the eastern and western walls all feature timber framed two-pane double-hung sash windows. Each are capped with a curved arch in the brick work. The front door (possibly timber panel) with modern security screen door is topped by a timber framed three-pane fan light.

Three brick chimneys indicate the presence of fireplaces, although it is not known whether these remain in situ.

The rear portion of the building features a flat roofed skillion addition, open timber deck and aluminium framed doors and windows, all of a much more recent date.

The building is set back in line with the neighbouring residential properties in Bass Street.

History:
Historical notes:
Reportedly constructed as an inn (The Derwent) in about 1860 in response to the short-lived Kiandra goldrush. Further research is necessary.
